RETRO FOOD RECIPES : Christmas Recipes

RETRO FOOD RECIPES : Christmas Recipes
Camembert Cheese, so nice. I like to taste this cheese because it's so smooth and creamy. It can be strong to some, so be careful, but the deep cheese flavor has been a long standing tradition for us.
Enjoy.

Oh, Marie Harel, had created this famous and still undiscovered French delight.
I enjoy peeling the paper from a fresh round, and before that, opening the fragile, wooden boxes they are packed in.
Look at some pictures of some fresh, Camembert, and it will have you going to the store real soon. :)

I like turkey bacon. That's true. I had to have more than two of these eggs though. This breakfast made my morning. Orange juice, yogurt, coffee, pancakes, veggies, bacon.... it balanced out and was delicious as well. I love three meals a day. Every time I get good food, it's amazing.
Thanks honey. You do such a wonderful job. I'll have to get you back soon.
I feel much better for the day after something nice like this.

April already, hope you enjoy spring.

OK! Now, do you see that avocado in there? That was one of the best sandwiches I had for "breakfast". Ever.
I need one right now. :) It's late, I know, but I work all kinds of crazy hours anyways.
I love Spinach and peppers, and it all goes so well on fresh baked bread. Being home is the best!!!
Now.... What's a good place to take a girl who cooks so sweet for me? hmmmmm.

The below pictures are the not-so-good eats. This is the famous chow from onboard ship. U.S. Navy. The first picture looked like Mabo-tofu. It tasted nothing like it. I was surprised to be slammed with a nutty, curry, bad cheese flavor. I still really do not  know what it was. Argh... I have to stop trying to remember too. It's not making me feel very good right now. ;)

The picture below, is the general set up of the mess line. Usually they will have someone serving the food, but since it was late, they usually just leave the spoons out for us to serve ourselves.

The shot below, is how it looked on my plate. the fried chicken patty was about the only thing I could eat. Everything else was cold. Now, that I'm home, I'll be able to get some "real" cooking. :) Now, it's time for me to take my mind off this whole thing for a bit and try to forget that meal. :P

Day Off

I finally have a day off from work. I miss updating this little blog though.
We went to eat at Cheeseburgers in Paradise tonight. Well, let me tell you something. It was good, but I definitely taste a difference between restaurant food and mama's food. :)

The wrap was good, but dang, when you have a woman that cooks like mine, most places we go have a hard time beating that. This husband truly has good eats!

The kids were happy and they seemed to miss me. That made me happy.
It was a little sad to see so many empty parking lots today. It seems like there isn't many people going out anymore. We hardly ever do, but I thought that was just us.
I even noticed Atlantic Bread Company was gone too. Well, my wife pointed that to me.
Some folks say that eating in America keeps the money in America.

Well, as for now, I think I'm going to read a few blogs and search for some pictures to put up here later.

Have a wonderful night and enjoy your life! :)

Home for awhile

I'll be home for a bit. I hope to get something interesting here again. I just had a sweet dinner last night made from my sweetheart. It was healthy and delicious. I hope to get pictures up later.

Navy Chow

I missed having breakfast with my baby, but here is an example of what we have on the ship.

Friday, March 9, 2012

Let's see..... Hmmmmmmmm. This was delicious. The salad, was all fresh. I love to hear her making salad, because I know she is doing it to give us fresh vegetables to keep us healthy. :) Oh, the dressing was very good. I don't know what was in it, but I can appreciate that it was tasty.

The pasta was lighter than a thicker, traditional pasta sauce. I like seafood, so the steamed clams is always a good choice. Thank you honey. Another fresh meal, from my honey. :)

USS CARR FFG-51 Breakfast

I believe this was my last meal on the USS CARR (FFG-52). I really enjoy all the omelets' they make. You can tell the Culinary Specialist what you're in the mood more, and they will fill the omelet with anything you like! I love that and miss that.

The yogurt was a nice thing to have around too. I liked the "tater tots" and cereal. I like high fiber cereal, but Cherrios has had pretty good ratings as one of the most healthy cereals to eat... so I went for it that morning. :) The gravy and bread was one of my favorites too! It was supposed to be biscuits and gravy. I loved it, any time they put it on the line.

mmmmmmmm I want one of them omelets now!

I miss the old coffee machine there too.

The trays were a pretty basic style.

Nice sandwich

I get lucky many times. When I get home, there is something for me to snack on. Today I had the pleasure to opening the refrigerator door and spotting a tasty looking sandwich. Thanks honey.

I never have to stop and hurry fast food down, when she already has taken care of me. :)

Tuesday, March 6, 2012

For nice lunches, she makes me a sandwich that just drives me nuts!

I like the fresh fruit she prepares for me specially. It feels good to eat some fresh fruit, and it's nice tasting. Oh, one of the best things I like about the sandwich, is that the bread is made fresh from Trader Joe's. :) Thank you again. This is another day, of being a husband with good eats.

*The bread is Country Italian Loaf

Healthy and Japanese

These are some interesting items that we enjoyed for dinner. I like how she made it, but it wasn't heavy and it involved vegetables. The fish is Mackerel. It had a sweet sauce and it was  real good. I like to get some fish once in awhile, but be informed of mercury contents though.

Broccolini

Sunday, March 4, 2012

This time she made a nice little treat. Now, everything she does changes often. She get's ideas from... you guessed it, blogs. Oh, but this one she picked up at the store. She bought this nice tasting lobster soup from Trader Joe's and tossed some fresh spinach together with some toppings and oil. It was nice.

It wasn't difficult, but it made me feel much better. I could of ran out and grabbed a big old greasy burger..... but, that's not good for me, right?

I feel better when she makes something easy and tasty, but really healthy. The spinach she had wasn't lonely. She also had some nice rolls she baked from scratch. Those were torn, ever tenderly and dipped into that sweet lobster soup from the store! It was a nice lunch. Maybe I'll put a picture up later.

I also had some ship food, and will have to send a picture up as well. It was the basic requirements, but no flavor this time. Shipboard food.... sometimes does really well with all the critics.

Hope you enjoy your easy dining day. Dinner is next. I'll see if I can get something typed up about that one too.

Have a nice night.

Shipboard food

These bagels are onboard Navy ships. They are liked because they are warm and if you add some toppings they make a great quick snack.

I personally like the toasty smell in the morning.

Another day goes by. I didn't get to enjoy as much of her great tasting dishes, but am looking forward to it again tomorrow. Working late keeps me from getting home to that three meal deal and loving conversation with everyone at home. Well, that's what we work for I guess. :) So, when I'm away, I think about why I'm there, and that's to sustain a wonderful life with my family and look forward to that warm time together around the table at night.

So, many times I look forward to work, then towards getting back home.

Nice meals... that means i need to make every attempt I can to do my part and stay as healthy as I can for the family too. She does her part by making the best things she can to keep us all healthy, so it's our part to keep that going on.

I hope you enjoy the reading and are too the wife or husband with good eats. :) You deserve a nice life.
I like this blog! It goes into some cool food pictures that I like! I can not read it though. :P

Nachos

She gave me some fresh stuff from yesterday. I am always down for tasty nachos. Especially on late days back from work.

Nachos

I love to have a nice snack during a good movie. She saves the day again with fresh cut vegetables and cooked meat for a delicious serving. I like the sauce she makes too. Tastes so delicious.

Salsa from my babe. :)

She just made a favorite of mine, but you know, the interesting thing about it, is the recipe always changes somehow!
It's always good and always made with love. :)
Ok, let's talk about scones. They are sweet morsels, but the way this woman makes them, makes my world go round. They come in various sizes. This one is only about 3" long. She does not really use very much oils and shortenings either, so it's good for your waist line too.

I love them with a little tea or coffee.

She also has made them in various flavors. I like the one.

This surely keeps dad happy. Wow!
:)

She's a darling, and I have to get that woman something nice. :P

A Great Sandwich!

This sandwich was unique because she added avacado and some scrambled eggs. It was tasty. I look forward to this stuff all the time. :)

Ramen! Yum.

This was a quick snack she made us. Mmmmm good. Good for the soul.

Nice Sandwiches

This is just one example of the great tasting sandwiches she makes from out of no where! :)
Can I have one now? Please!

Love that food.

I love my wife's food! I hope you enjoy the pictures. She makes every thing! I love it all. I hope you enjoy the comments and pictures as well. The food ideas, hopefully inspire you as well.
